Portland Gladiators
gladiator Overview
The Gladiator Program's 200 Level is designed to transition young athletes aged 12-15 from basic shadowboxing and heavy bag work to more advanced boxing techniques and mindset training. Over 4 weeks, participants will undergo 8 intense sessions focused not only on skill development but also on the mental and emotional strength required to succeed in the ring and in life.
After signing up, students receive Gladiator boxing gloves, hand wraps, a mouth guard, and a uniform.
At the end of the 4 week session, after meeting graduation requirements, students are graduated to the Gladiator fight team.
Gladiator classes meet twice a week—9:30 am Saturdays and 6:30 pm Mondays. Students are expected to be at both sessions.
Class sizes are limited to 10. Two coaches are present. This ensures each child gets one-on-one instruction in a safe and encouraging environment.
class structure
When the command "Lock it up" is given, students are expected to sit criss-cross on the floor, facing the ring, and ready for instruction within 1 minute. This expectation is established from day one and is a cornerstone of discipline in the Gladiator Program. The only instruction students need to know upfront is this: "When we say 'Lock it up,' you must be seated, criss-cross, facing the ring, and ready." All other details will be provided during the course, fostering focus and engagement.
mindset training
Mindset Training: Every class begins with a short speech or demonstration to instill the mindset required to face the challenges of training and competition. These mindset lessons help prepare students not just for physical combat in the ring but for the mental and emotional battles they will encounter throughout life.
Success
With these fundamentals in place, each session of the Gladiator Program builds on the last, pushing students toward their first amateur match and preparing them for success inside and outside the ring.
